DRIVER, 83, FATALLY RUNS DOWN MAN IN QUEENS

May 27, 2005 -- A Queens man was killed last night when he was mowed down by an elderly driver who left the scene, police said.
The 83-year-old woman, who was not identified, was not charged after telling cops she didn't realize she had struck someone at 9:15 p.m. on 111th Street and Atlantic Avenue in Richmond Hill, police said.
Anthony Ferrisi, 39, of South Ozone Park, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses said Ferrisi had been in a parked car arguing with his wife when he stepped out of the vehicle and was struck.
"He jumped out of the car and that's when he got hit," said Andrew Jawahir, 30, who works at a nearby deli. "[The wife] was crying, 'I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry.' "
José Causell, 40, who wrote down the driver's license-plate number and called cops, said he's "convinced [the woman] did not realize she hit him. I tried to go after her. I tried to get her attention, but she drove away."....
